This Is The Last Stop On The Makeup Train…..

The Makeup Train has pulled into the station for the last time.

All passengers please exit the train and take your makeup cases with you.

A part of me finds it hard to believe I’m writing this post. I knew I’d be ending the blog this year, but I was hoping to squeeze in some more posts before I did. I wondered if I should choose a significant date or something to make it more meaningful. Perhaps on a subconscious level I was putting it off because I didn’t want this day to come.

It’s been a wild, educational, hugely rewarding experience as a beauty blogger. I started this blog in July 2010 and I didn’t know how far it would take me or where it would end up. I just knew I was joining a community of beauty lovers and enthusiasts who would not only enhance my knowledge of cosmetics and techniques, but also enrich my whole life. I’m endlessly grateful to you all.

I’m getting teary eyed thinking of the first people I met in this community: Dani of CallItBeauty, KajalCouture, Seema of Viva La Lipstick, Mehak of Peaches and Blush, Jessi of Lacquered, Polished and Painted, and of course the amazing person who inspired me to start my own blog: Michelle Mismas of All Lacquered Up. I can’t forget any of you.

I remember blogging in my first apartment where I lived with my then partner. I remember taking photos in our kitchen. I remember attending BMCC, then NYU, then going back into makeup artistry. This blog is tied to so many life memories. Revisiting it will be like entering a time machine. I have grown up so much throughout it all, and leaving it is bittersweet. I still remember typing up posts in the living room that faced a busy and noisy West Village street. How amazing is that. I was so much younger back then. 🙂 I knew much less.

My reasons for ending now are numerous and complex. For one thing, I haven’t had full access to a real computer for a year and a half now, and blogging on a tablet is very limiting. Blogging itself is very time-consuming, and posting daily is a struggle for me without a real computer. Factor in the busyness that follows the burgeoning of a new soap business, with the additional responsibility of caring for my 90-year-old grandmother and you can probably understand how full my plate is. This is a lot to do, and in addition to all this I have both a food blog and jewelry blog I’d like to update again eventually, as well as social media management for the soap business. Managing all these blogs and work responsibilities is too much for one person.

I’m touched and thrilled that people read my blog and benefitted from it. I’m overjoyed that I could help people. There were times when a reader told me they liked seeing swatches on my skintone or that I made a joke that made them laugh. I enjoy affecting other lives in a positive way. I never thought I could reach other people and affect them. I never thought people would notice me or find anything I had to say important. Blogging changed the way I view my position in the world. I have a place, a role in this world for sure.

Some of the other bloggers I started with have moved on. I don’t know if they will ever read this, but I’m glad I met them and knew them. I hope they find happiness in life, whether online or offline. And I hope the current bloggers I’ve met in the past two years know how immensely grateful I am to have shared this connection with you, this bond over our shared love of cosmetics. It’s more than I could have hoped for. I grew up wanting to have slumber parties and makeup activities with other girls. I didn’t get to do much of that at that age, so thank you for helping me fulfill that dream in adulthood. I’ll always be grateful.

I will continue to pay the fees for keeping the blog active. I will also keep all social media accounts active as best as I can. Lately I am more active on Instagram (all links are on the blog’s homepage). You all are welcome to come and talk to me on there. 🙂 I’d be happy to hear from any one of you.

Please watch your step as you exit the train and good luck on your makeup journeys of the future. One train ride is just one excursion, and you have so many more adventures to discover. ❤

Beauty/product junkie hiding behind the title of certified makeup artist (that's the excuse I use for my makeup addiction). I am a human pet to two cats, a full time college student majoring in Cultural Anthropology and an organic food enthusiast (read: organic food freak) who cooks, bakes, and has not burned down the kitchen (I'm waiting for it). New York has put up with all of this thus far, so here is where I reside. I can be reached for comments, questions, complaints, and incoherent babbling at:
